2. Select water temperature by fabric weight, not color alone. Heavy cotton towels require warm water to release skin oils, but everyday garments last significantly longer in cool wash cycles.

3. Match cycle extraction to load volume. High-spin extractions pull out maximum water weight before drying, reducing heat exposure and keeping bedsheets soft.
